9. Refraction Of Light

Refraction is a phenomenon of bending of light rays or the change in direction of light rays due to the change in its speed as it enters from a medium to another medium. The refraction of light occurs when it passes from a fast medium (less dense medium) to a slower medium (more dense medium) then the light ray gets more bend towards the normal to the boundary between the two transparent media.

Laws Of Refraction

The incident ray, the refracted ray and the normal to the interface of two transparent media at the point of incidence, are all lie on the same plane.

The ratio of the sine of angel of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction equals to the ratio of the index of the refraction of the the second medium to the the index of the refraction of the first medium which equal to a constant.
